Content Notes

Dear Friend,

Love in Willow Brook stories are faith focused – rooted in hope, perseverance, and enduring love on the Texas frontier. Initially this was going to be only one book but it has since become a series. All the credit goes to God for that. So, the Love in Willow Brook Trilogy was born, A Love Like That, Moving Mountains, and Finding Home.

That created the second Trilogy; U.S. Marshals, Gabriel’s Child, Michael’s Lady, and Amos’ Bounty which is scheduled for the later part of 2026.

The story begins with A Love Like That, in 1867 two years after the Civil War, on the Texas Frontier, and follows the Vance Brothers, Nick, Lincoln, and Lucas and their extended families, like Quin Hayes, Gabriel Walker and Michael Walker. As their children grow they will eventually have their own stories. The possibilities are endless.

You will see the same Characters throughout the series, so the plan is to create a third and possible fourth Trilogy and a few stand-alone stories like A Vance Family Christmas; The Search and Saving Grace.

Now to the nitty-gritty. I appreciate that everyone has their own definition of clean, wholesome, spice free, and violent, so I want to be sensitive here. Please keep in mind these are fictional stories, a product of my over-imagination. I strive to keep these stories clean, wholesome and spice/smut free.

There is no foul language, and no explicit/spice scenes but expect some kissing. There are a few bedroom scenes, for example, in Michael’s Lady, Michael and Laura have tender moments in their own private haven, (their bed-without the spice), about life, love and their inner most feelings. This is where they shut out the world and connect with one another about their hopes and dreams for the future as husband and wife and the family they are building together.

Because I care deeply about your reading experience, I want you to know that throughout this series you may encounter themes such as frontier violence including kidnapping, s-assault, shooting, stabbing, hangings, and death. References to war and its lingering effects, including what we now understand as post-traumatic stress disorder.

Some characters experience miscarriage, physical injury and/or live with disabilities, including blindness and deafness, and their journeys are portrayed with dignity and strength.

While the forementioned violence and experiences are not written with graphic detail, they are part of the historical reality of the Texas frontier and serve the greater story of faith, redemption, resilience, hope and love.

If any of these topics are tender for you, please take care of your heart as you decide to read. My prayer is that within every hardship on these pages, you will ultimately find hope, courage, and the steady light of God’s love.

Romans 5:3-5

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
